Bob's Country
Monday 1pm-3pm

Hi my name is Bob Warnes and I present a country music programme for Hospital Radio Yare on Monday afternoons between 13-00 and 15-00

I have been presenting at radio yare for several years now and thoroughly enjoy doing 'my thing ' and hoping that my listeners are enjoying 'my kinda country' . I first got into country as a small boy living in a rural part of Norfolk, no telly , indeed no electric or any other mod-cons for that matter but we did have an old Invictor radio which ran on batteries and an accumulator and I would sit and listen to the likes of Gabby Zeke and Ezra, The Smokey Mountain Boys Slim Whitman, Roy Rogers and of course Hank Williams amongst others on a station called A F N , American Forces Network ? . the station was prone to fading due to weather conditions just like Luxembourg used to (HORACE BATCHELOR , KEYNSHAM BRISTOL, spelt K E Y N S H A M remember that??)

I have always loved Country and when I used to run a mobile disco I would slip in some of it wherever I could , Billy Joe spears, or Dr Hook ,the odd Patsy cline and of course Hank Williams!!. I then had a country music disco which I played nothing but country and that was good for a time , but sadly I had to give it up due to work commitments , getting to bed in the early hours after doing a 'gig' and having to hit the road in the early hours to do the 'day job' didn't work out so the truck's stereo became my personal disco bombing round the M25 to the strains of Charlie pride , Jonny cash etc etc .

Then many moons ago I was asked if I would be interested in doing a country show for Hospital Radio , I jumped at the chance and used to do Thursday evenings for quite some time but then sadly work got in the way again and I had to give it up for a while and then a couple of years later they approached me again and I 'came back' and am still hanging in there by the skin of my teeth and thoroughly enjoying it. I don't play too much modern country because they have made it too much like pop music and I think that's' sad but I suppose that's progress. I prefer the Alan Jackson , George Strait ,Alison Kraus type of music mixed with the ever popular ones such as Charlie Pride , George Jones and of course 'Gentleman Jim '

But what about you? do you like the kinda country I play ? if you know you are going in to Hospital and you want a country record played during your stay you can always e mail your country request to me at bwarnes@hospitalradioyare.com and providing I have it I would love to play it for you .in the meantime I hope you Enjoy listening Hospital Radio Yare and to Bob's Country in particular , we are there for you 24hours a day-7 days a week-365days a year on 1350 AM .
